Westminster Healthcare Center

Westminster Health Care CenterThe Health Care Centre provides around-the-clock, fully licensed, long-term care at intermediate and skilled care levels. When health care needs dictate that it is no longer desirable for a resident to receive care in the home, the center can provide medical services to 54 individuals through intermediate care. When a person has had a hospital stay of at least three days, skilled care is available to as many as 58 residents. Residency at the Health Care Centre is certified for Medicare and Medicaid.

Rehabilitative Therapy Programs
Remaining as independent as possible is important to a resident’s physical, mental, and emotional health. Residents who are experiencing the effects of stroke, arthritis, orthopedic or neuromuscular disorders, and other physical difficulties can improve functioning or learn compensatory techniques with the help of our therapy specialists.

Following a thorough assessment and goal setting sessions with the resident and his or her primary caregiver, a team of therapists, nursing staff, social services, dietary and activities personnel create a comprehensive plan of care. The plan includes one or more of the following therapies:

Physical Therapy
Physical therapy focuses on improving muscular and neural responses to decrease discomfort and increase physical strength, range of motion, and the ability to walk.

Occupational Therapy
The goal of occupational therapy is to improve a resident’s ability to complete activities of daily living, such as dressing, bathing, and personal grooming.

Speech Therapy
Improving a resident’s speech, language, hearing, and ability to swallow is achieved through speech therapy and dietary modifications.
