PHOL 2010 Spirit of PHSK Employee of the Year

sopcrystalIn April 2010, the Spirit of PHSK Committee on the Louisville campus selected Waltraud Crystal Culliver as our Employee of the Year.  Crystal is a certified nursing assistant who serves as an Assisted Living Attendant. She serves our community with the same spunk and determination that propelled her to come to this country from her native country, Germany, 25 years ago when she arrived with her young daughter and unable to speak a word of English.

Crystal was first introduced to Presbyterian Homes as a private caregiver for one of the assisted living residents.  Although not an “official” staff person, she quickly became a valuable part of the community and was adored by the residents and PHSK staff members that she encountered daily. When the resident entrusted to her care passed away, administration offered her a position as an AL Attendant.  Her first day with Presbyterian Homes was September 12, 2007.

Crystal is dedicated to each and every resident in assisted living.  Her work ethic is second to none and she goes above and beyond the calls of duty for our residents.  On many of her days off, she voluntarily runs errands to benefit our residents or their pets, lend a hand with tasks, like decorating the residents’ Christmas trees, or offering hospitality to strangers. Crystal’s devotion to our residents goes beyond her relationship with them in life, remaining attentive to family members through the process of death and beyond.

Despite the other demands of her life of full-time school and caring for her ailing daughter, Crystal cares for our residents with whole-hearted compassion. She embodies our mission of giving “compassionate care and superior service” and is well respected within our PHSK community.  She is truly one in a million.
